Longtime Destiny’s Child fans have watched Beyonce go from braids and “Bills, Bills, Bills” to the uber-glam, performance machine she is today. And now, Ms. Thang is married to Hov, Jay-Z, aka Mr. Carter, himself.

At times it seemed weird, maybe even immature to some that in the early days they denied the spark when everyone knew it was going on. But, privacy is valuable. And, about eight years later, they exchange vows in private despite the overwhelming public interest that resorted to Beyonce turning down tons of money just so people could see the photos.

I respect that. Every couple, no matter how public, should value and cherish the privacy that protects the intimacy of your particular bond.

What I really admire, though, is Beyonce’s US magazine interview where she said she wasn’t in a rush to marry Jay-Z. She said she had some growing to do; some discovery of self. That’s real. Too often I see people marry for the wrong reasons just so they can say that somebody “put a ring on it.” They miss the value in being single.

Well, I’m not interested in just anybody blinging me. I want that one-body. That person whose existence is custom-made for me.

Here’s a photo gallery of the couple featured in US magazine that brought a smile to my face. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, I gotta respect J and B’s love thang. It was cute to watch through the years. I hope that they hang on to that so their marriage can outlast the engagement period, the statistics stacked against married couples and “irreconcilable differences.”
